Class of '74 Mission to solve the Viking Yearbook Deficit
(from Gary Pina, Gilbert Sandoval)
The Class of ’74 is on a mission. We’re on a mission to help reduce the Yearbook debt, which has grown over the past four years. The Yearbook is in a vicious cycle, working the entire year to pay off the previous year’s books. They recently paid off the 2005-06 book, and they will work on paying off the 2006-07 book when school starts. Ms. Dina Townsend, the ND principal, has said she would very grateful if the Class of ’74 could help the Yearbook. Our goal is to raise $5,000, but we need YOUR help.
Here is our plan:
1, We’re going to ask for donations. We’ll collect the donations, and submit them for an ad in next year’s yearbook. OR we’ll purchase yearbooks for deserving seniors/students who can’t afford to buy the book.
2, We discussed holding a silent auction at the North Dallas All-School Luncheon in September; asking for donations at the Bulldog breakfast in July; and asking for donations at other class gatherings/functions. Ms. Laura Little, the yearbook sponsor, agreed to attend these events, show the yearbook and talk to the groups.
3, The yearbook staff sold only three ads for the 2006-07 book -- the booster club, alumni group and a military recruiter. We started a list of places that could be contacted to purchase ads in next year’s yearbook. Let us know if your business can buy an ad.
Here are the business ad rates for the yearbook:
If you wish to make a donation or if your business is interested in buying an ad, contact Gary Piña at 469-323-0083, or e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Or you can mail your donation to Claude Brewer with the ND Alumni Association. Please indicate that your donation is for the Yearbook.
