10/27/2008 - Husband: Sam. I got a B.A. in English at the University of North Texas and then went back to get an M.A. in Library Science at UT, Austin in 1993. If I could live my life over, I'd probably spend it in school...but I wouldn't worry so much about good grades and asking dumb questions. Family info: 2 children, 1 daughter and 1 son. No grandchildren (still hoping). Job info: Sam and I met at University of NT in 1960 and were married in 1963. We taught school in Corpus Christi for 2 years before he was called to military service. I taught again in Rancho Cordova CA and then in Okinawa for the Department of Defense. Sam was a fighter pilot so we moved constantly...every 18 months for a long time there. We loved that life and still think it must be time to move when the refrigerator needs defrosting! Moving so often made a "career" difficult and I worked at many different kinds of jobs. Since my Masters degree, I have been a research librarian for the Dallas Morning News, have developed a new library for a secretarial college and I'm now working as Records Manager for North Park Center in Dallas. Pursuits after retirement: I'll probably work till I fall flat on my desk. When I actually do quit, I'm hoping I have enough energy (and money) left for travel...there are a lot of places I haven't seen yet. Hobbies: I love to read and work in the yard. I love to paint - watercolor...but I'm very bad and never show anyone what I've done. Purely a stress reliever. Influence: My memories of North Dallas are as sharp today as 40 years ago. I loved every minute and cherish old friend- ships...even though I was terrible at keeping up with everyone. I'm trying to make up for that by getting involved in "re-connection therapy". I'd like to find every single person that graduated in 1959. It was a very good year! Things Would Do Different: I was too serious about grades. Who cares anyway? Not one person has every asked me how my grades were in high school. I would have kept up with friends a lot better than I did. |

08/09/2007 - Spouse name: Betty J. (Hilliard). Family info: We have 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Our grandson, Charlie, now serves in Iraq. Job info: I worked for Central Freight Lines for 30 years, then R&L Carriers Group and Delta Air Lines until retiring in 2003. After retirement: We have traveled some, moved to Harrison, AR for 3 years, but missed Texas and family too much. Hobbies: I love photography and golf and working in the yard gives me a lot of pleasure and exercise. Influence: Ms. Imogene Berry was a great influence on my life. Things Different: The only thing I would do differently is; I would have applied myself more to my studies, made better grades and continued on with my education. But I did okay and I have been truly blessed by a wonderful wife. Friends: I remember well, but have had very little contact with: Jimmy Williams, Jimmy Sealy, Katie Sullivan, Marinelle Phillips, Robert Ackridge, Sherry Dickerson, Hardy McCullah, Becca Lawson, David Green, Johnny Davis, Bobby Boyd, Ronnie Pursel, J.C. Fishbeck, H.B. Kernodle, Mark Ussery, Tony Wynn and of course, Janice Craver. Were they all special? Of course! Comments: We are so happy to be back in Texas. The hills of Arkansas and the mountains of Colorado are beautiful, but I will take the deep woods of East Texas, the mountains and deserts of Big Bend and the people of Texas anytime, any day. May God bless Texas. |

(Hill) Withers Friedensohn, Sharon |
Sharon and her husband, George, live in Dallas and have 1 Daughter and 2 Granddaughters. She received her BA Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas. She worked in accounting for many years, then had an opportunity to go to work for Prufrock Inc. She worked for seven years with Prufrock. When she left there she moved to Los Angeles to do direct sales. Upon return to Dallas she worked for a Oil Drilling company as secretary, purchasing agent and office manager until her retirement in 1994. She has worked on the Architectural Committee of her apartment building for many years since retirement. Her hobbies are sewing and jewelry making (silver, gold, etc) and many craft projects. (Horton) Prevot, Sharon |
04/16/01 - Sharon and her husband, Henry Prevot, live in Edina MN. After 1 year at SMU Sharon put off college for ten years. She returned to school in 1971 and earned B.A. and M.A. in Sociology and also in Administration of Criminal Justice at the University of Illinois (Chicago Circle). She took some post-grad work at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. After many years looking for "Mr. Wonderful", she found him in 1969 in a Chicago Bar (of all places). They married 8 years later in 1978. They have no children, just dogs. Sharon did research for the Illinois Law Enforcement Commission while in Chicago. and in Purchasing Management in Minneapolis MN (1979-1991). She has been a caregiver in her home for her parents since 1991. Her hobbies are gardening, coffee at Starbucks every morning with a wonderful group of people who range in age from 24 to 72 (some of whom I can think of as the children I never had), travel. If she had it to do over again, Sharon would spend more time with her fellow students and less on the books. |

| (Johnson) Stewart, Linda |
06/18/01 - Education - Masters Degree - School of Hard Knocks. Family info: Married to Ron Stewart since 1963. One son, one daughter. Two grandsons. Job info: Worked when I had to at different places, mostly as bookkeeper / accounts payable. Longest job lasted 16 years at Dallas Fire Fighters Association as Administrative Assistant and Newspaper editor. Retired November 1999. Only personal income now comes from what I can sell on Ebay Auction and steal from Ron's wallet. Pursuits after retirement: Pursuing life is adequate for me. Something interesting pops up all the time. I have started writing a novel. So far all I have is a bunch of complicated characters, a setting, and a plot that's in shambles. Plan to take a writer's course this fall to get some direction. This is an "iffy" project. Trying to build up my nerve to a buy a kayak but I'm afraid of turning over and drowning. Hobbies: Do some fishing and camping. Love to attend music festivals. After I get tired, I read or watch movies. I'm an avid Andy Griffith Show fan and am one of thousands of members of The Andy Griffith Show Re-run Watchers Club. I enjoy attending the Mayberry cast reunions and collect memorabilia from the show. Also collect small antique clocks, VHS movies (a mistake) and various other things from time to time. I have a dobro and hammer dulcimer and have been trying to play both of them for years but something's missing in my musical talent category. I just enjoy banging around on them when I'm by myself. Influence: Mrs. Bronenkamp stands out as one of the only teachers who could pound information in my head that would stay long enough to pass a test. Mr. Whitlesey was a friend to me when I had a few problems. He was really a nice man. I liked that lady in the lunch room with the rhinestones in her hairnet - she gave me extra food - thought I was skinny but that's not a problem now. I loved the Friday morning sock-hops but they didn't influence my life much - it was just fun which is the main thing - right? Things Would Do Different: Sure - I'd pay more attention in class and prepare better for life. Comments: I've always regretted losing track of friends. A good friend is a blessing and friendships should be nurtured, not forgotten. |
